Helena Paparizou the 2005 Greek Eurovision winner and 2001 Greek representative is still running strong on Greek soil. Helena won 2 awards at the 2011 Greek MAD TV Awards last weekend. The MAD TV Awards we held in Athens. Helena won the Best Female of the Year Award and the Fashion Icon in a Videolip Award for her song Baby it's over.

Many other Greek celebrities and Euro stars were nominated in various categories: Despina Vandi, Sakis Rouvas, Tamta, Kostas Martakis etc.

Helena Paparizou appeared on Eurovision stage for the first time in 2001 as part of the duo Antique when she represented Greece with the song I'd die for you, achieving an honourable 3rd placing (Greece's best placing until then). Such was the impact caused by the Greek artist that she was invited to represent Greece in 2005 in Kiev. This time she made Greece and all the Greeks proud when she majesticly triumphed in Ukraine with her song My number one, thus giving Greece its very first Eurovision victory. Helena's Eurovision triumph brought the Eurovision Song Contest for the very first time to the beautiful ancient city of Athens in 2006.

Helena is among the most acclaimed Greek artists in Greece today, enjoying name, fame and success both in Greece and Sweden. Last weekend the 2011 MAD TV Awards were held in Athens, and Helena Paparizou received 2 awards. Due to her busy schedule, the artist was busy in Sweden and was unable to attend the awards ceremony in Athens and collect the awards.
