Rehearsals are now well and truly underway in the city of Tel Aviv, which will be hosting this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Today sees the first day of rehearsals, with the first half of the first semi-final evening taking to the impressive stage of Expo Tel Aviv.
9 countries are all set to make their debut onstage, 10 days before the live show of the first semi-final. Following their rehearsal, a Meet & Greet session will be coming next. These countries are Cyprus, Montenegro, Finland, Poland, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Belarus and Serbia.
As with the running order of the first semi-final, the very first country to appear is Cyprus. This year the country is being represented by the highly-acclaimed Greek-Georgian artist Tamta, who will perform her pop entry Replay.
The first act to rehearse has a classic Eurovision costume change! Tamta begins her performance wearing thigh high black PVC platform boots and an oversized black jacket. Midway through the performance, her jacket is ripped off by her dancers revealing a bejewelled crystal bodysuit and long black PVC gloves.
Impression of Cyprus’ first rehearsal
Her short blonde hair is styled to be wet-look, similar to Ruth Lorenzo (Spain 2014) and Demy (Greece 2017), and she wears feline-flicked eyeliner. Tamta’s four male backing dancers are all wearing wide-brimmed pork pie hats, mesh vests and blazers, giving off nineties-boyband vibes.
