Die for you, look into my eyes and see it’s true… Who doesn’t remember the duo Antique that represented Greece at Eurovision 2001 and finished at a respectable 3rd place? Despite their band’s dissolution two years later, Helena Paparizou and Nikos Panagiotidis are still two very good friends and that’s why they will join forces once again, for a single performance come July!

The story behind

It was back in 1999 when two Greek friends that were born and raised in Sweden started singing as a duet, under the name Antique. Following the release of their first singles and two years later, Helena and Nikos dared to dream even more and try to take to the Eurovision stage, in order to represent their home country Greece.

Success was one-way! The duet won the 2001 Greek national selection and flew to Copenhagen, Denmark for the Eurovision Song Contest 2001. With their entry entitled Die for you, they managed to get voted by all participating countries and bring Greece their best Eurovision result at that time, as they ended up 3rd with 147 points.

Despite their massive success in Greece, Sweden and beyond, Helena and Nikos finally separated their ways in 2003. Thus, Helena Paparizou pursued a solo music career, which was meant to bring her to the top of Europe in 2005, as she returned to Eurovision and took the trophy to Greece for the first time ever.

But life makes circles…

However, their personal bonds remained tight through all of these years, and on the occassion of the 20 years since their group’s formation, Antique decided to perform their unforgettable hits at the Swedish music festival Vi som älskar 90 talet (“Who loves the 90s”), which will take place in Gothenburg on 13 July!

Obviously excited about their reunion, Helena and Nikos posted the following video on their social media, announcing the upcoming event in Swedish:

Are you looking forward to this reunion? And would you like to see Antique release a brand new single, 17 years after their split?
