The 2019 edition of Georgian Idol concluded tonight with its grand final where four hopefuls battled for the coveted crown and the right to represent Georgia at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv. Oto Nemsadze was declared the winner of the talent show and will thus defend the Georgian colours at the forthcoming 2019 Eurovision edition in Israel with Sul tsin iare .

Tonight’s show was held at the Tblisi Concert Hall in Tblisi and hosted by Ruska Makashvili and Vaniko Tarkhnishvili.

Four acts battled for the golden ticket to Tel Aviv during tonight’s grand final,  Oto Nemsadze won the talent show and will fly to Tel Aviv with Sul tsin iare.

The 2019 Georgian Eurovision act and entry were deliberated via a 100% public deliberation.

Georgia in Eurovision

Georgia debuted at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 with Sopho Khalvashi’s Visionary dream and is yet to win the competition. The country achieved its best results in the contest in Oslo (2010) and Dusseldorf (2011) when it placed 9th in the Grand Final.

Georgia has competed 11 times in Europe’s favorite television show, the country has partaken in the event every year since their debut in 2007 with the exception of 2009 when the nation opted to stay out of the competition.

Georgia is set to compete in the second half of the First Semi-final of the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest on 14 May in Tel Aviv.
