Good evening Malta! The little mediterranean island decided tonight their representative to the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv. We have a winner: it’s Michela Pace!

What a night

Started in October 2018 with the first auditions, Malta concluded tonight their first X-Factor competition and therefore the selection for the Maltese representative to the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Four acts were competing:

  • Owen Leuellen (Boys)
  • Nicole Frendo (Girls)
  • Michela Pace (Girls)
  • Petra (Over 25s)

We have a winner!

The winner was decided by a public televote procedure. As in previous shows, the four judges were: Ira Losco (boys), Howard Keith Debono (girls), Ray Merciega (overs) and Alexandra Alden (groups).

The winner was announced by host Ben Camille: Michela Pace will fly the Maltese flag in Tel Aviv!

Alongside the participation at the  Eurovision Song Contest next May, Michela Pace also secured a record contract with Sony Music Italy.

Michela Pace is 17 years old and comes from the island of Gozo. She is a student at Bishops Conservatory Girls School in Victoria. During her time on X Factor Malta, she was mentored by Howard Keith Debono.
Michela’s Eurovision entry will be selected internally and will be officially released in due course.
