Romanian broadcaster TVR has revealed the 23 competing songs of Selecția Națională 2019!

As the year 2019 has started, the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 comes ever closer… Heading to Romania, it’s time to listen to the country’s entries for Selecția Națională 2019! Broadcaster TVR has unveiled the songs that the 23 participating artists will present in the two semi-finals.

The songs were chosen by a selection committee and the list of performing artists includes some familiar names such as MIHAI (Mihai Trăistariu), Romania’s successful Eurovision 2006 participant, and Selecția Națională veteran Xandra, besides many fresh newcomers. Selecția Națională 2019 will feature a vast array of musical styles, showcasing Romania’s artistic scene.

Singer Dan Bittman, who already represented Romania at the country’s Eurovision debut in 1994, unfortunately decided to withdraw his entry Pierd from Selecția Națională 2019, bringing the participating acts to a number of 23.

Selecția Națională 2019 dates and info

The two semi-finals of Selecția Națională 2019 will take place on 20 and 27 January, in the cities of Arad and Iași respectively. The Grand Final is set for February in the capital Bucharest, date and details to be released in due time.

Romania at Eurovision 2018

The band The Humans won Selecția Națională 2018 and thus represented Romania at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Portugal. The group performed the heartfelt rock song Goodbye, sung by charismatic lead vocalist Cristina Caramarcu, in 2nd semi-final. Unfortunately, The Humans just missed out on the Grand Final, placing 11th with 107 points in the semi.
