Germany’s Eurovision 2018 entrant Michael Schulte has unveiled a new song, the emotional ballad The love you left behind.

Last week, German singer-songwriter Michael Schulte had a little musical surprise for his fans and followers: he presented his single The love you left behind. And the song has Eurovision connections as well, as it was one of the 10 songs written to potentially be performed at Eurovision 2018 in Lisbon!

It eventually came down between You let me walk alone and The love you left behind, the favourable choice being the former. Now, everyone may finally also enjoy The love you left behind.

For his father

Michael Schulte, who reached an honourable 4th place in Lisbon’s Grand Final and had considerable success throughout Europe with his entry You let me walk alone, stated that The love you left behind has a similar emotional value as its Eurovision counterpart. Just like his eventual Eurovision entry, The love you left behind was inspired by the loss of his father, who passed away in Michael’s youth.

The artist tells on Facebook:

I got a little surprise for you! This Friday I‘m gonna release my song „The Love You Left Behind“! Back then in January…

The love you left behind is perhaps even more personal and gripping than You let me walk alone, a heartfelt ballad about loss, love and remembrance. It’s a perfect song for the holiday season, when the warmth of family, friends and loved ones is celebrated – including the ones who are no longer among us.

The love you left hebind is now available for download and streaming.
