After a chaotic national selection, the Ukrainians picked up Mika Newton as their official representative in Düsseldorf. Although she expressed her wish to replace her originally winning song with another one written by Walter Afanasieff, Mika Newton and NTU have eventually decided to keep the original song and revamp it.
Ukraine's national selection for this year's Eurovision Song Contest kicked-off in October last year when Verka Serduchka and Anastasiya Prikhodko announced their participation. Several weekly heats were recorded and aired by the country's first channel during October – November 2010. Five acts of each five heats qualified for the semi final stages of the competition as following : three of them were chosen by the jury while the remaining two qualified via sms voting. Three semi finals were held during December 2010 and the line-up for the grand final has been set. The big final took place on February 26th at Savik Shuster's show on 1TV.As some of the participants were unhappy with the result, a new final was supposed to take place on March 3rd, but as the other competing acts decided to withdraw, Mika Newton was declared asUkraine's representant at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011.
The official preview videoclip and the revamped version of Angels were released today as the delegate meeting is taking place in Dusseldorf. The music video has been directed by Mr. Alexander Ivanenko and features footage of the previous clip.

Ukraine is one of the most succesful countries in the recent history of the Eurovision Song Contest. The young Eastern European country managed to win the competition one year after their debout took placewhen Ruslana set Istanbul on fire with her Wild Dances. This year, Ukraine will perform 6th in the second semi final of the contest.
