The hosts now welcome the audience and explain the procedure to follow in tonight's show. Ott Sepp, host of the final, appears on stage.
Song 1. Ithaka Maria – Hopa'pa rei! (Current esctoday.com poll result: 2nd – 30.8%)
Ithaka is one of the favourites to win tonight's semifinal, at least so think our readers.Hopa'pa rei!is a powerful song with an ethnic touch, showcasing the singer's strong vocals and relying a lot on the percussion instruments. This performance transmits energy and passion, and reminds of Ruslana'sWild dancesback in 2004.However, the song tends to be quite repetitive after having heard its title nearly a hundred times.
Song 2. Rolf Roosalu – All & now (Current esctoday.com poll result: 5th – 5.1%)
All & now is a pop ballad, reminding a bit of the American boybands style of the 1990s. Rolf's vocals are good, just like in his performance last week. Overall, the song is a bit flat, but towards the end it becomes more energetic, and this is where Rolf can show off his vocal skills by hitting the most acute notes.
Song 3. Orelipoiss – Valss (Current esctoday.com poll result: 10th – 1.1%)
According to our readers, this act is the clear outsider of the night. But it seems that Estonians do not agree. Valss is clearly a typical folklorical Estonian song, with a gentle tune and remarkable sound effects. It is worth to mention the presence a couple of dancers performing a waltz dance routine. The public cheer loudly.
Song 4. Getter Jaani – Rockefeller Street (Current esctoday.com poll result: 1st – 42.9%)
From last to first in our poll. Getter Jaani has become the main candidate to lift the trophy tonight, but we'll have to wait and see what happens. The beginning of the song reminds of Lady Gaga and Katy Perry. This could easily be the most Eurovision-alike song in the show. This performance uses skyscrapers as stage elements, and is more energetic than the ones that we've seen so far. However, the vocals of the singer are a bit weak.
Song 5. Jana Kask – Don't want anything (Current esctoday.com poll result: 3rd – 6.5%)
Another singer that could win tonight, according to the esctoday.com readers is Jana Kask. She is currently ranking 3rd, but far behind the top two contestants.Don't want anything is a power ballad that becomes more energetic in the chorus, clearly from the American school. Jana's vocals are flawless tonight as she is displaying a wide vocal range and a beautiful vibrato.
Song 6. MID – Smile (Current esctoday.com poll result: 9th – 1.4%)
We have to acknowledge that Estonia is the land of the most atypical entries in their national selections, which is indeed refreshing. The brothers start their performance riding amotorbike.Smileis hard to be allocated in any musical style, maybe it could be associated to the alternative pop from the 1980s. The lyrics are nearly spoken instead of sung. It is remarkable the use of a cello on stage.
Song 7. Outloudz – I wanna meet Bob Dylan (Current esctoday.com poll result: 7th – 2.2%)
Outloudz are next up. Their style reminds a bit of The Killers. Their song, I wanna meet Bob Dylan, is quite flat, with no remarkable key change. Only halfway through the song, it becomes a bit more energetic and poppy. The overall impression is average. Vocals could be improved and the song is repetitive.
Song 8. Mimicry – The storm (Current esctoday.com poll result: 6th – 2.9%)
The storm is an electronic tune, with vocals reminding a bit of those of Depeche Mode. The members of the group are wearing fluorescent elements in order to make their performance more effective. The song also features some DJ effects, like a scratching as musical bridge. The song is limited in terms of instrumentation and vocals, and is quite repetitive.
Song 9. Noorkuu – Be my Saturday night (Current esctoday.com poll result: 8th – 1.4%)
Be my Saturday night is a happy poppy song, characterised by the lead singer's acute vocals and falsetto. This song also relies a lot on the role of the backing vocalists. The instrumentation is very basic, even in some parts of the song Noorkuu sing a cappella. All the members of the band are dressed in white outfits.
Song 10. Victoria – Baby had you (Current esctoday.com poll result: 4th – 6.1%)
The first four spots in our poll are all occupied by female soloists. Victoria takes the stage with the disco-dance entry Baby had you. The song also has a trance feature and is not difficult to sing. Victoria's vocals are not bad, but they sound screamy at some points. She is dressed accordingly. There are some screens on stage showing a pre-recorded performance of Victoria, producing an interesting visualeffect.
This concludes tonight's performances.
