Sigurjón Brink must feel really proud today wherever he is, as the song he composed, Aftur heim, has been chosen to represent Iceland in the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. His friends Hreimur, Vignir, Gunni, Pálmi, Matti and Benni will fly the Icelandic flag in Düsseldorf.

Yohanna was strongly tipped to represent Iceland this year after her successful participation in Eurovision two years ago. However, Aftur heim will be the song to fly to Düsseldorf. It will be performed by Sigurjón Brink's friends. Last month, Sigurjón, who was to participate in the third semifinal of Söngvakeppni Sjónvarpsins, suddenly died of a heart attack. Then, as a tribute to him, some of his friends gathered together to sing the song at the request of the family.
