That was it for 2018! This year’s Eurovision Song Contest has already passed through history, with Israel crowned as its winner. However, it seems that several countries have set their eyes on next year’s competition and their potential representatives, with Greece rumoured as one of them.
Tamta in talks with ERT?
Although the Greek national broadcaster ERT is yet to make any official statements regarding its 2019 participation, intense speculation has arisen within the local media about who is going to be Yianna Terzi‘s successor on the Eurovision stage. And it’s reported that it will possibly be… Tamta!
According to reports from a morning Greek TV show, the Georgian-Greek pop singer is already in negotiations with the broadcaster’s officials about her potential taking to the Eurovision stage next May, with her colleagues being particularly positive to that possibility.
Below you may read what was heard on the morning TV show of Star Channel:
Tamta is the next person who is discussing to participate in Eurovision. Her colleagues want her so much to go. She had tried three years ago, having sent a wonderful song, however it was rejected, due to missing ERT’s deadlines. Tamta is seriously thinking about it.
Tamta and Eurovision
Tamta’s involvement in Eurovision is nothing new, as it started back in 2007, when she took part in the Greek national final with the ballad song With love. However, she didn’t fly to Helsinki that year, as she came 3rd in the show. Below you may remember her appearance at the event:
8 years later, in 2015, it was reported that the successful pop singer intended to try again to represent the Balkan country with a song penned by the Swedish-Greek composer Alex Papaconstantinou. However, then it was all about a bad timing issue, as she missed ERT’s deadlines to submit her proposed entry Unloved, which later became a big radio hit in Greece.
Before joining or not next year’s Eurovision, it seems that Tamta is preparing something quite enjoyable for her (Eurovision) fans, as it is rumoured that she will be performing along with this year’s Czech entrant Mikolas Josef on the stage of MAD Video Music Awards 2018! The biggest annual music event of the country is going be held on 27 June at the indoor Tae Kwo Do court in Athens. Here you may check out the awards’ Eurostars nominees!
Beyond any rumours, it seems that we have to wait a few months for ERT’s official announcements about their Eurovision 2019 plans.
You may now listen to Tamta’s latest single Tag you in my sky, written by Dimitris Kontopoulos, John Ballard, Nektarios Tyrakis and Giannis Koutsaftakis.
