According to Milliyet newspaper of Turkey, TRT (Turkish broadcaster) thinks that the only city in which the 2004 Eurovision Song Contest could take place is İstanbul.

Just recently, Antalya was offered as a candidate city to host the event. However, this particular city seems to be ruled out due to the reasoning that it receives rainfall even during the month of May, despite the fact that it is a tourist's paradise. Therefore, the whole event would be jeopardised since only open-air events can be organised there. That leaves İstanbul for the officials of TRT as the possible city.

Supposedly, officials of TRT consider three venues in Istanbul where it would be suitable to host the event. These are:

1. Mydonose Showland
2. Abdi İpekçi Sports Center
3. The Olympics Arena in Ataköy

İstanbul Chamber of Commerce, president Mehmet Yıldırım, also offered the World Trade Center in İstanbul as a possible venue for the event. He added that the Chamber would also be providing financial support for the contest's organisation. The World Trade Center in İstanbul lies on an area of 80.000 square meters.
