Sammarinese national broadcaster SMRTV has informed esctoday.com that they have appointed Eddy Anselmi as the project manager and artistic consultant for the 2011 San Marino Eurovision project. San Marino will announce their Eurovision 2011 representative in a press conference on the 3rd of February.
In a recent interview to esctoday.com, Roberto Meloni, who hasparticipated twiceat the Eurovision SongContest representing Latvia, suggested that Italy should choose Eddy Anselmi as aproject manager: «I really hope they choose someone who knows Eurovision thoroughly for the project: the man is a real guru of the Eurovision Song Contest».
San Marino RTV is pleased to announce that the journalist and music historian Eddy Anselmi will be part of the San Marino team in Düsseldorf as a Senior Delegation Member, project manager and artistic consultant. Eurovision fans may know Eddy –who is also an active OGAE Italy member- and the only Italian journalist whohasattended the latest four editions of the Eurovision Song Contest.In the Italian-speaking world, Eddy Anselmi is known as an established historian of pop music contests. His works about Festival di Sanremo are a milestone in the reference books on the contest. Eddy was a radio commentator for Rai Radio 2 during the latest Festival di Sanremo, and may be often spotted on tv as a guest of popular shows about Sanremo and the Italian pop Music.
"Being chosen as a senior member of the San Marino delegation is a big honour for me". Eddy has declared: "Now that I’m part of the team, I will do all my best to ensure the best result for my neighbours". At the question how he feels to compete against Italy after waiting its return for years, he answers: "Eurovision is never a competition 'against': the inner spirit of Eurovision provides winners but no losers. In this context, it will be extremely exciting to be in the San Marino team together with my own country".
Eddy's contribution to the Sammarinese International team in Düsseldorf 2011 is just a first step in the framework of a renewed effort, that is going to mark the return of San Marino to the Eurovision stage. San Marino RTV will announce further details about its return to the Eurovision Song Contest on February the 3rd, including the name of the artist(s) who will wave the flag of the Republic on the stage of Europe’s favourite tv show.
