The Moldovan national broadcaster (TRM) announced their plans regarding this year's selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. All the participating artists will have to pass through three different stages in order to receive the honour of representing their homeland at Europe's favourite music show. It was also announced that the Moldovan national final will be held on February 26th.

TRM have announced all the details regarding this year's national selection at a press conference. On January 22nd, a special jury consisting of nine people involved in the local music industry will select 60 performers to pass to the further stages of the competition. The jury will consider the following criteria: originality of melody, text, song composition, voice and manner of interpretation.

The second phase of the competition will consist of live auditions. Each of the 60 previously selected performers will have three minutes to demonstrate their vocal abilities. The auditions will be held on January 29th without any special concert equipment. A total number of 25 acts will qualify for the national final to be held on February 26th.

The winner will be selected by a combination of jury and tele voting and will get the right to represent the Moldovan nation at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, to be held onMay 10-14th in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Also, it was announced that for the first time since the introduction of the semi finals, the Moldovan national television network will broadcast both semi finals as well as the final of this year's Europe favourite music show.

Moldova will compete in the first half of the 2nd semi final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2011.
