Three songs bidding to represent Portugal in Eurovision Song Contest 2011 are officially out of the race. RTP has disqualified Amor cruzado, Por ti and Um sinal because these entries have been found to be in breach of the regulations of Festival da Canção. The public broadcaster will not replace them.
Therefore, the original number of 24 competing entries has been brought down to 21. The Portuguese plans for their 2011 Eurovision quest remain the same: 12 acts will qualify for the final of Festival da Canção. They will be decided in the online voting stage, which started yesterday.
The voting page can be found here. Internet users will be able to cast their votes until January 27th. The Portuguese national final is scheduled to take place on March 5th.
Portugal will compete in the second half of the first semifinal of the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest, to be held on May 10th.
