US Rockstar Supernova finalist Magni Ásgeirsson will compete in the Icelandic selection. The singer will return to the selection following his participation with Brigitta four years ago.

The Icelandic national selection this year seems to be getting hotter by the minute. After the announcement that 2009 Eurovision Song Contest runner-up Johanna will be taking part in the selection again, esctoday.com got to know that another heavyweight is in the run to represent his home country in Düsseldorf.

Magni is one of the top artists in Iceland and rose to fame after being selected to take part in the US produced show Rockstar Supernova where he earned himself the nickname of "Ice-man". His solid vocal performance singled him out from other competitors, and he came close to becoming Supernova's leading front man. Back in Reykjavik his concerts were named best concerts of 2006, and he also won the best male artist award.

Magni Ásgeirsson, will be taking part with an entry composed by leading Icelandic songwriter Halgrimur Oskarsson (Brigitta Haukdal/Jogvan/Ingo) and Gerard James Borg, who has written five songs for the Eurovision Song Contest and gave Malta its first number second placing. Both writers have a strong track record collaborating with various international artists, both within and outside the Eurovision circle.

He is the front man of pop/rock band Á Móti Sól, who has produced eight albums with some reaching gold status. In addition, he was also the opening act for Aerosmith. This will not be Magni's first try to carry the national flag for Iceland. Sources close to esctoday.com have revealed that Magni decided to take part again because when the song was first presented to him he was blown away, and realised that finally he had found something that suits him.
