Rehearsals have begun in the host city of Lisbon, in which artists from countries across the first semi-final of the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest are taking to the Eurovision stage for the very first time. Following lunch, the Czech Republic’s Mikolas Josef is onstage next to embark on his first set of rehearsals.
It’s day one of rehearsals at the Altice Arena in Lisbon, where a total of 10 artists will be taking to the stage today for their first rehearsal on the official Eurovision stage. We now know how the stage looks, now let’s find out how it works!
The fifth rehearsal of the day is from Mikolas Josef of the Czech Republic, who will be competing in Lisbon next Tuesday with his entry Lie to me.
Mikolas begins his performance on a set of stairs (featuring what has recently become the iconic backpack), with shades of blue, purple and pink lighting up the stage. Camera angles are a bit of an issue during the first rehearsal, all of which are sure to be fixed in later rehearsals.

It’s a rather energetic performance as a whole from the Czech singer, with plenty of break-dancing, trumpet playing and even a front flip on the stage sure to keep the audience in high spirits.
A few minor problems and messy errors were seen through today’s run through, however this high energy performance can only get better through every rehearsal in the lead up to the first semi-final.
