The European Broadcastig Union (EBU), has decided to reveal the new Eurovision vignette which will premiere tonight during Albania's first semi final of Festivali i Këngës 2010. This is one of the numerous changes brought to us by the new decade of the Eurovision Song Contest.
The new Eurovision vignette was created by the well-known German motion graphics designer Sascha Verwiebe who has worked for German broadcaster ZDF, Danish TV2, Deutsche Bahn and Microsoft. He is also the winner of a pan-European pitch which included five companies. The inspiration for the new logo came out from the mid-nineties when the so-called starburst was used for the introduction of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Famous prelude of Te deum by Charpentier will be used as the soundtrack of the new Eurovision Song Contest introduction, following the pattern of the past editions of Europe's favourite music show. The European Broadcasting Union encourages broadcasters to use the vignette to introduce their respecive national selection shows.
Although the Reference Group of the EBU has decided to make the usage of the vignette optional in 2011, it should become mandatory for all the broadcasters starting in 2012.
