The hosts of the 2011 Eurovision Song contest in Dusseldorf, Germany will be Stefan Raab, Anke Engelke and Judith Rakers. The trio were confirmed moments ago by host broadcaster NDR.
NDR director, Lutz Marmor, claimed "For the biggest music show in the world, we have found excellent presenters, we will Europe be a good host I am looking forward to an exciting Euro Vision Song Contest in Germany."
ARD Entertainment Co-ordinator and team manager for the 2011 Eurovision Song contest, Thomas Schreiber stated: "we have the Best of Germany for Europe – Anke, Judith and Stefan will delight the 35,000 people in the arena and the 120 million TV viewers from more than 40 countries. There will also be a few surprises in the show".
Anke Engelke is a Canadian born trilinguist (English, French and German) and is an experienced television and radio presenter in Germany. She says "What a great honour and pleasure it will be to host the Eurovision Song Contest. I'm a big ABBA fan and for more than ten years i've watched and voted with my friends and family".
Judith Rakers is one of the faces of the "Tagesschau", the most successful news program in Germany and has been a NDR television and radio host as wekk as a TV writer. She explains "The Eurovision Song Contest is my institution and worship the same time. As a child we had to watch the show at home, at university, we celebrated it with wild Grand Prix parties and now I can be part of the host team I'm really looking forward to it."
Stefan Raab is well known to Eurovision Song Contest fans as the brains behind Germany's selection show last year that Led to Lena being picked and going on to win in Oslo. He has taken part in the competition four times, in 1998 and 2004 as composer and lyricist, in 2000 he performed Wadda hadda dude da. About being a host, he says: "I was already in many functions of it, but that beats the drum from the floor. I am very happy."
The 2011 Eurovision Song Contest grand final takes place on Saturday 14th May in Dusseldorf, Germany. The semi finals will take place on Tuesday 10th and Thursday 12th May.
