Mr Bakker's meteoric career within the European Broadcasting Union goes on. Sietse Bakker, founder of esctoday.com, has been appointed supervisor for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest as per January 1st 2011. Only two weeks ago, he was promoted to the post of Event supervisor for the Eurovision Song Contest.

The Netherlands' Sietse Bakker will work together with Norway's Jan Ola Sand, executive supervisor for the Eurovision Song Contest, in order to facilitate TV production for both shows.

The newly appointed supervisor for Junior Eurovision told eurovision.tv: "The Junior Eurovision Song Contest is a great event! At the same time, it faces challenges due to the budget cuts that public broadcasters all over Europe have to make. Together with the event's Steering Group I am looking forward to find solutions for these challenges and take the contest to a new level".

Jørgen Franck, TV Directorand interimat the European Broadcasting Union, thinks that it's a natural step that a young person holds this post from January 1st:"The Junior Eurovision Song Contest is true family entertainment, but with a young twist. It was a logic step to appoint a young and experienced supervisor for this project".

Sietse Bakker, 26,has been involved with the Eurovision Song Contest for ten years now. He started esctoday.com back in 2000. He joined EBU in 2006 as project manager Internet, and in 2008 he was promoted to manager Communications and PR.

esctoday.com would like to congratulate Mr Bakker on his new post and wish him best of luck and success.
