Switzerland: First finalist announced

The first finalist of the internet Swiss pre-selection for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest is already known. Sara Orpheline with the song Surrender has qualified for the Italian-speaking part of the country. Meanwhile, the online voting has been closed today by SF.

The Swiss broadcaster SF, together with DRS 3, RTS and RSI have chosen this year for an internet selection to find the Swiss entry for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest.This interesting internet selection has attracted various artists from different countries. In total there were 327 songs submitted. Several Euro-artists have sent their entries.

During 10 days everyone had the opportunity to vote online for their favourite songs. From 327 only 12 songs will qualify for decider live show on 11 December 2010.

7 out of 12 finalists will be selected by SF from the results of 50% internet voting/ 50% expert jury.

5 other places for the national final have been allocated to three radio television stations. 3 finalists will be selected by DRS3 (German speaking radio station) from a poll on their site where you still can cast your vote till Friday. RTS(French speaking) and RSI (Italian speaking) each have1 dedicated place in the national final.

RTS is going to select internally their song for the final, while RSI has already announced the first finalist for the Swiss national final. The singer Sarà Orpheline with her song Surrender has won the Italian-language part of the Swiss selection.

SF will announce after mid-November the list with all the finalists. The 12 performers will present their songs in a major live show on 11 December 2010. Televoting will determine which song wins the ticket for the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest in Germany.
