Sources close to esctoday.com in Dublin have confirmed that Ireland will stage a Eurosong 2011. It is expected that broadcaster RT&Eacute will make a formal announcement in the near future regarding the format in full.

For Eurosong 2011, a new selection format is currently being considered, details of which remain very sketchy.

In the past forEurosong 2009 and 2010, RTE maintained the same selection panel with minor adjustments to the rules regarding the selection process.

Ireland finished 23rd in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 with Niamh Kavanagh singing "It's for you."
