Today esctoday.com walked in the streets of Riga, the host city of Eurovision Song Contest 2003. As we noticed, Beth, the Spanish contestant, and Claudia Beni, the representative of Croatia also enjoyed the sights of the city.

To feel the atmosphere, see and get to know if people have noticed any changes in the city life during the Eurovision week, our editors took a walk in the streets and parks of Riga.

The most of people we met in the streets admitted that the surroundings of Riga have become nicer due to the preparations for hosting the contest. As well they all have noticed the increasing number of foreigners enjoyning the fine weather and the sights of Riga Old Town.

Asked for their favorites in the ESC 2003, Rigans could mention France, Russia, Sweden and Portugal .

Riga offers a wide range of cultural events during the Euroweek. As we we wrote earlier there is the ESC 2003 information centre called Europole in the Dome Square, in Riga Old Town, where the news can be obtained. Today people can taste typical Latvain food and listen to the traditional Latvian music visiting the 6th longest degustation board placed in Torna iela (Tower Street).

On Saturday there will be several big screens in the squares of Riga where people can follow the live broadcast of the Eurovision Song Contest 2003.
