For five whole weeks, it has been spinning around Romania. Now, returning home, it finishes and crowns its winner! Romania’s national selection event, Selecția Națională 2018 concludes tonight as the country is all set to choose the one who will be representing them at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
About the final show
The Grand Final of Selecția Națională is going to take place at Sala Polivalentă venue in the country’s capital, Bucharest and its presenters will be Cezar Ouatu (Romania 2013) and Diana Dumitrescu. The Romanian national broadcaster TVR has been working for a glamorous Grand Final with many special performances.
Initially, the event will feature the appearance of last year’s Romanian Eurovision hopeful, Ilinca, who finished in 7th place with Alex Florea and the song Yodel it!. Ilinca is going to perform her new hit Not now, released a couple of days ago.
Furthermore, the Alex Calancea Band will be there to hold a recital with their authentic folk sounds, rhythms and characteristic voices.
Last but not least, the winners of the Moldovan national final O Melodi pentru Europa 2018, DoReDos will be travelling to Bucharest to perform the country’s Eurovision entry, determined just yesterday.

The participants
Tonight sees the 12 qualified acts from the 5 semi-finals battling for the coveted Eurovision ticket of Romania. This time the decision will be made exclusively by the public, in contrast to the previous shows, where only an expert jury was selecting which 3 acts would be advancing to the final stage.

Romania has been drawn to take part in the 1st half of the second semi-final evening on 8 May. The 63rd Eurovision Song Contest is going to take place on 8, 10 and 12 May at the Altice Arena in Lisbon, Portugal.
