He is considered as a national hero in his country, and rightly so. After 53 whole years of limited success in the contest, Salvador Sobral granted Portugal a triumphant and noisy Eurovision victory with his, other than that, calm ballad Amar pelos dois, composed by his sister Luísa Sobral.

Loving for both of us

As previously reported, the Portuguese national broadcaster RTP has aired a two-part documentary about the story behind this success, in late December.

During this broadcast, Salvador Sobral was shown to perform a piano version of his ballad. RTP uploaded the video of this performance last Friday on YouTube and we are now sharing it with all of you. Which are your impressions?

He’s back at home!

Salvador, who touched the souls of people from all over the world with his health problem, has finally left the hospital, after a long vicissitude faced by him and his family. Following his temporary withdrawal from his professional obligations and almost 4 months within the Santa Cruz hospital in search for a graft, he is currently recovering at home, having all his beloved ones by his side.

After winning Eurovision last May, Portugal will subsequently host the 63rd Eurovision Song Contest on 8, 10 and 12 May 2018 at the Altice Arena, located in the country’s capital, Lisbon. The show’s presenters are going to be Catarina Furtado, Filomena Cautela, Daniela Ruah and Sílvia Alberto.
