Salvador joins future European stars Alice Merton from Germany, Off Bloom from Denmark, Skott from Sweden, as well fellow Eurovision 2017 contestant Blanche as recipients of the awards for 2018 who were announced earlier this month.

About the EBBAs

Overall, ten EBBAs are given out each year, and the next five recipients will be announced over the coming weeks. The main awards ceremony, hosted by British music personality Jools Holland, will take place in Groningen, Netherlands on 17 January 2018. The event itself is invite only, but will be broadcast on TV stations throughout Europe.

The awards have been given out since 2004 and are designed to reward artists for their achievements outside their home country. Past winners include internally famed artist such as Adele and Mumford & Sons, as well as past Eurovision contestants Helena Paparizou (Greece), Cascada (Germany) and The Common Linnets (Netherlands).

Since winning Eurovision 2017 with his song Amar pelos dios, Salvador Sobral has temporarily withdrawn from public life, but you can keep up to date on the latest news with himself, his career and his health on his Facebook.
