LIVE

The show has started.

Different channel, same stage. Sabine Heinrich at Matthias Opdenhövel welcome the audience.

A video montage introduces the Eurovision Song Contest itself and Unser Star für Oslo.

The jury is introduced now. Head judge Stefan Raab is first on stage and he is followed by the two gues judges Anke Engelke and Adel Tawil. Anke Engelke is Germany's most popular comedy actress but she is also an occasional singer. Adel Tawil is best known as lead singer of duo Ich + Ich, one of the most popular music acts in the German speaking countries at the moment.

Anke Engelke says that when evaluating the perofrmances tonight, she will watch out if the performer would be able to perform in front of 130 million people. Adel Tawil says that being authentic is the most important thing in the music business.

As the show is broadcast on a different channel tonight, all five participants are introduced once again.

1. Sharyhan Osman

Current esctoday.com poll result (based on previous performances): 2nd (21.4%)

Sharyhan performs You've got the love by Florence + The Machine.

Sharyhan will proabably perform an own composition later, but chose a cover version for her first performance. Her voice is holding up strong and she delivers an enthusiastic performance, although she seemed a little nervous at the beginning. A strong opening performance that managed to show two different shades within one song as the second half is rather energetic.

Stefan Raab says that she should choose energetic songs more often.

Anke Engelke says that Sharyhan's first performance was her favourite but she did not understand her own compositions. However, she liked tonight's performance and she enjoyed seein how much the singer felt at ease during some notes.

Adel Tawil answers in Egyptian and says that she delivered "100%".

2. Jennifer Braun

Current esctoday.com poll result (based on previous performances): 3rd (16.5%)

Jennifer performs Soulmate by Natasha Bedingfield.

This is the second time that Jennifer performs a ballad and it is the first time that it is a "pop" ballad. Although the choice of the song might come as a surprise, she delivers a strong vocal performance with only few minor faults. Even more importantly, it is an emotional performance, especially during the louder parts of the song.

Anke Engelke says that she was annoyed by Jennifer's previous songs as they were all outdated. She enjoyed tonight's performances and she says that Jennifer was quite secure on stage.

Adel Tawil says that her performances are always close to those of the original artists and he misses some individuality.

Stefan Raab says that he enjoyed her performing a ballad despite some faults in the vocal performance.

3. Kerstin Freking

Current esctoday.com poll result (based on previous performances): =4th (13.6%)

Kerstin performs If a song could get me you by Marit Larsen.

Suitably, Kerstin chooses a song by a Norwegian singer. It is probably the most "commercial" song she has chosen so far, but she adds a very unique touch thanks to her unusual voice. The performance is sweet as ever and it is likely that the jury will compare her to a fairy again.

Adel Tawil says that the performance was very emotional and that he was touched by it. He also likes the sound of her voice and he can imagine her performing in Oslo.

Stefan Raab says that the Norwegian audience in Oslo might think that it is their own representative. He likes that she showed a different shade and he wants to her more "funny stuff" from her.

Anke Engelke says that the second half of the performance was much better than the first one as Kerstin managed to get more secure on stage.

4. Christian Durstewitz

Current esctoday.com poll result (based on previous performances): =4th (13.6%)

Christian performs Ochrasy by Mando Diao.

Last man standing Christian Durstewitz wants to show a different shade by performing a ballad. The song is rather unknown but also not very catchy when listening to it for the first time, which might not be an advantage. The vocal performance is still flawless and emotional. However, a more powerful song would probably be the better choice for Oslo, if he wins the national final.

Stefan Raab likes the different style that Christian showed and he praises the vocal performance.

Anke Engelke likes that it was an own interpretation and that the singer felt at ease on stage.

Adel Tawil says that Christian is a cool guy and a real musician. He still questions the choice of the song as it might have been a bit too hard to perform.

5. Lena Meyer-Landrut

Current esctoday.com poll result (based on previous performances): 1st (35.0%)

Lena performs Mouthwash by Kate Nash.

Lena has always been a hot favourite but she manages to show yet again that she is getting better every week. The choice of the song is perfect and the performance as entertaining as ever. The audience is going wild after her performance.

Anke Engelke says that it was great and that the choice of the song was perfect.

Adel Tawil says that what she does is a mixture of singing and rapping and he enjoys it very much.

Stefan Raab likes her attitude and once again he praises her unique style.

The lines are now open and the five performances are presented again in a recap.

Before the second round of performances starts, a short video introduces the town of Oslo.

1. Sharyhan Osman

Sharyhan performs Never felt the way that I feel today, an own composition.

Sharyhan has written another very, very sad song. The performance is extremely emotional and it is obvious that she has found her style.

Anke Engelke says that she was captured by the middle part of the song, which she calls senstational. She still says that she is acting a bit too much.

Adel Tawil says that the song could be a Disney tune. Unlike Anke Engelke, he considers the eprformance entirely authentic.

Stefan Raab says that the song is beautiful but the style is not suitable for every situation.

2. Jennifer Braun

Jennifer performs Nobody's wife by Anouk.

Back to the roots with a rock song. Jennifer seems to feel more at ease on stage than during the first performance and she delivers a perfect performance. She is in groove with the band and shows how to rock the stage.

Stefan Raab says that it was super.

Anke Engelke says that the choice of song was perfect.

Adel Tawil says that he would be scared now if her were her boyfriend. He says that the performance was awesome.

3. Kerstin Freking

Kerstin performs Somedays by Regina Spektor.

Kerstin delivers another one of her faultless trademark ballad performances. Now it is just up to the audience to decide how much they like her unique style.

Adel Tawil says that if she had performed in Woodstock, people would have gathered, undressed and made love.

Stefan Raab likes her many different personalities.

Anke Engelke says that it was super.

4. Christian Durstewitz

Christian performs Stalker, an own composition.

Christian fools us by making us believe that he will perform a ballad. Actually, it is an entertaining up-tempo rock song. This performance seems to work much better on stage than the first one.

All three jury members say that it was great.

5. Lena Meyer-Landrut

Lena performs Neopolitan dreams by Lisa Mitchell.

Lena shows something different by performing a calmer song. Her own style is still shining through, especially during the more powerful parts. A very strong performance that transports a very unique and authentic emotion. It would be a mjor surprise if she did not qualify for the final.

Adel Tawil says that she should not believe the hype but he says that the performance was great.

Anke Engelke says that it was great and she likes that Lena lives the stories that she sings.

Stefan Raab says that she is "different".

The lines are still open. A recap of the second round is shown.

Adel Tawil performs Einer von zweien, the new single off the number one Ich + Ich album Gute Reise.

Our poll is closed now. You can find the updated results above.
