Slovakia sends Kristina to the Eurovision Song Contest

Tonight, the Slovak national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 was held. Twelve acts competed in Eurosong 2010 and at the end of the voting, it was decided that Kristina will go to Oslo with the song Horehronie written by Martin Kavulič and Kamil Peteraj.

Kristina Peláková has been singing, dancing and playing the piano since her childhood. She attended the conservatory in Košice and launched her coreer as a professional singer after meeting producer Martin KavuliÄ�, who also composed the song Horehronie. Her first single was released in 2007 but she had her major breakthrough the year after when VráÅ¥ mi tie hviezdy became a hit in Slovakia. Her first album was released in 2008 as well.

The esctoday.com poll voters agreed with the choice. Kristina was the clear favourite in the poll getting impressive 68.5% of the votes. None of the other acts left a major impact in the poll although the two acts that tied for second place in the poll, Tomáš Bezdeda and Mista (7.5%) both did very well in the national final finishing third and second respectively.

The 2010 esctoday.com National Final Awards will be held between April and May, which means between the national final season and the Eurovision Song Contest. We will repeat the same format with two rounds for nominations which was used this year – you can read how it works here. However, this time the individual polls for each country will always be held right after the national final, when the entries are still fresh.
