Every year, Eurovision fans look forward to the presentation postcards which precede each country’s performance during the live ESC shows. Throughout the years we have witnessed various different styles of presentation postcards showcasing artists in the host country or in their homeland, showcasing the host country’s hot spots and main attractions, depicting the host country’s culture and traditions etc…

So what concept will Lisbon opt for?

RTP’s Director Mr. Daniel Deusdado has revealed that the 2018 Eurovision postcards will showcase and depict the country in the best possible way.

Artists and delegations from 42 countries will travel to Portugal in order to film their respective postcards. Each country will film its postcard in a different location in Portugal. The postcards will be a great boost for Portugal’s tourism as millions of viewers will be able to admire the country’s diversity and attractive locations.

Daniel Deusdado says:

42 delegations will come to Portugal to film their postcards in 42 different locations in order to showcase Portugal during the live shows.

The postcards will depict the beauty of Portugal and will portray the Eurovision artists enjoying the sights and sounds of the host country. Acts from the 42 competing nations will travel to Portugal prior to the competition in order to film their respective Eurovision postcards.

A great window to the world

Hosting the Eurovision Song Contest is an extraordinary window for the host city and country to showcase themselves globally. Next May all eyes will be set on Lisbon and Portugal during the 2 Eurovision weeks when circa 42 delegations will land in the Portuguese capital along with the whole Eurovision bandwagon.

The presentation postcards serve as a massive platform for the host country to promote its tourism and showcase itself on a global scale as millions of viewers tune in to watch Europe’s favorite television show. The Eurovision Song Contest reaches households beyond Europe, from Australia to Argentina, from China to New Zealand, from USA to India etc.

The 2018 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held at the Altice Arena in Lisbon on 8, 10 and 12 May 2018.
