Belarus: BTRC confirms participation in Eurovision 2018

BTRC, the Belarusian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Belarus will participate at the upcoming 2018 Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon.

Belarus will once again opt for national selection in order to select its Eurovision act and entry for Lisbon. In 2017 Naviband flew the Belarusian flag in Kyiv with their ethno influenced melody Story of my life. The handsome couple placed 17th in the Grand Final.

Belarus in Eurovision

Belarus joined the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 in Istanbul and is yet to win the event. The country achieved its best placing in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 when Koldun placed 6th in Helsinki with Work your magic. The country has only qualified 5 times in its 14 year history in Eurovision.

Eurovision 2018

The 2018 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 8, 10 and 12 in Lisbon, Portugal.

The deadline for broadcasters to officially apply for Eurovision 2018 concludes by mid September. Hereafter, countries have a grace period to confirm their participation or withdraw their application without a penalty.

The final list of the 2018 Eurovision participating countries is expected to be released by the EBU later during the year.
