RTVSLO, the Slovenian national broadcaster has confirmed to ESCToday that Slovenia will be joining the Eurovision party in Lisbon next May.

Slovenia will be opting once again opt for a national selection in order to select its Eurovision entry and act. The Slovenian broadcaster has opened the submission period for artists/composers to submit their entries in their quest to fly to Lisbon. In 2017 EMA returned and Omar Naber won the golden ticket to Eurovision for the 2nd time. Despite a great performance Slovenia failed to qualify to the Grand Final in Kyiv.

Slovenia in Eurovision

Slovenia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest with IX Band in 1993 and is yet to win the competition. The country achieved its best result in the contest in 1997 and 2001 when it placed 7th.

Eurovision 2018

The 2018 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 8, 10 and 12 May in Lisbon, Portugal.

The deadline for broadcasters to officially apply for Eurovision 2018 concludes by mid September. Hereafter, countries have a grace period to confirm their participation or withdraw their application without a penalty.

The final list of the 2018 Eurovision participating countries is expected to be released by the EBU later during the year.
