Portugal: Salvador Sobral to perform at Pedrógão Grande relief concert

Following the devastating Portuguese wildfires which broke out across Pedrógão Grande over the weekend, a special relief concert is set to take place at the MEO Arena in the capital of Lisbon which will see a number of artists from across the nation taking to the stage in order to raise funds for the victims of the tragedy.

Last weekend saw a break out of wildfires across the region of Pedrógão Grande in central Portugal, so far claiming the lives of 64 victims and injuring a further 157, with fears of the death toll set to rise in the coming days.

Emergency services have been working of eliminating the fires across the region over the days to follow, with more than 1,600 firefighters currently battling the fires across the nation.

Relief concert on 27 June

In a bid to help the victims of the ongoing tragedy across the country, a relief concert has been organised at the MEO Arena in Lisbon in order to raise funds for the families and citizens caught up in the devastating wildfires.

Taking place on the 27 June, over 20 artists have so far been confirmed as performers at the relief concert in Lisbon, with confirmed acts so far including Ana Moura, Carminho and Rui Veloso, alongside Eurovision 2017 winner Salvador Sobral.

Speaking of the forthcoming relief concert, event organiser Vasco Sacramento confirmed that all of the proceeds raised from the concert will go towards the support of the victims, as well as to help rebuild the affected areas.

Shortly after news of the Portuguese wildfires breaking out across the region, Salvador Sobral confirmed that he would be donating all of the proceeds from the sales of the singer’s latest album, Excuse me, from his recent performance in Ourém would go towards the Pedrógão Grande relief fund.
