New Generation without any Eurovision glories

Last month, we reported on the “New Generation” category of the forthcoming SanRemo festival, whose contenders can be listened to on a special website. All in all, they were 988, including three previous Eurovision acts: Miodio (the one and only San Marino entrants, in 2008), Roberto Meloni (a tenor for Latvia in 2007 and a pirate, for Latvia again, in 2008) and Claudia Faniello (Fabrizio's sister, who tried her luck 4 times in her native Malta).

Unfortunately, none of these singers finally got their ticket into the final list, which includes 10 names and was made public earlier this week.

Here ’s the list of the 10 contenders with possibility to listen to each song. “It's a big news this year because after 60 years, the songs from this category are no more hidden and secret” Matteo Aldrovandi, of OGAE Italy, expalins. “It's a good way to promote these almost new artists”.“Among them, you can find Nina Zilli, who is already a "big name" here thanks to her song 50mila lacrime, which is part of the soundtrack of a long-awaited gay movie”. Mine Vaganti, from the Italo-Turkish director Ferzan Ozpetek, will be on screens early in March and will premiere at 2010 Berlin Film Festival in February. 50mila lacrime (which is not the Sanremo song) is already a good hit here, and you can listen to it almost everything on TV and radio spots of the movie.
