Brian Kennedy to be rewarded at the Irish Grammys

The 2010 Meteor Ireland Music Awards (basically the Irish Grammys) have chosen to award Brian Kennedy with a lifetime achievement award. The show will take place next February 19, at the Royal Dublin Society (RDS), which was the contest's venue on two occasions (1981 and 1988).

Meteor Music Awards’ website writes: “One of Ireland’s most loved and successful ambassadors of music, Brian Kennedy is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Meteor Ireland Music Awards, in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Irish Music Industry over the past 20 years. Brian will perform accompanied by the Dublin Gospel Choir”. “The critically acclaimed artist has released 10 albums including his latest Interpretations, which includes versions of 13 of the most popular chart toppers of the past 30 years”.

Brian Kennedy will embark on an Australian and New-Zealand tour at the end of February, beginning with a concert in Canberra on February 25. Later this year, he will also publish his autobiography.

Brian Kennedy represented Ireland at the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest and placed 10th with Every song is a cry for love.
