Tonight, the first semi final of Melodi Grand Prix 2010, the Norwegian national selection for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest, will be held. Seven acts will compete for two spots in the grand final.
The show
This is the only heat of MGP 2010 to be held on a Friday. The program to be broadcast on NRK1 will start at 19:40 CET and it will be aired live from the Main Air Base in Ørland. The hosts will be Marte Stokstad and Per Sundnes. Seven acts are in the running and two of them will be chosen by televoting to move forward to the grand final in Oslo on 6th February. The third and fourth places entries will compete in the second chance round.

In 2009, Norway was represented by Alexander Rybak, who won both the second semi final and the final with his song Fairytale. Norway is therefore the host country of the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest and directly qualified for the final.
