The winner

This is the second esctoday.com Award for Ukraine this year and the ninth award overall following victories in the category Performance of the year in 2006, 2007 and 2008, Best female performance in 2006 and 2008, Best preview video in 2008, Best dressed act in 2008 and Best stage effects this year. It is therefore the second year in a row that this award goes to Ukraine. The other previous winners of this award were Greece in 2006 and Hungary in 2007.

The video that was created in support of the Ukrainian entry was in fact a compilation of three previous Svetlana Loboda videos, namely Mishka, Postoy muschina and Ne macho. This was not the first time that such a compilation was chosen as a preview video; in 2003 t.A.T.u. created a preview video made of parts of their previous videos in support of the Russian entry Ne ver, ne bojsia.
