Romania: TVR publishes artist wishlist

by Stella Floras 140 views

TVR, the Romanian broadcaster, announced earlier today the new system they will use in their quest for the country's representative in the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest. A special jury will select 12 to 15 songs and the composers willing to participate are encouraged to choose a name from the list published a few minutes ago. If a composer wishes to submit a song performed by an artist outside the list, the jury, in the case the song qualifies to the final, retains the right to insist that the song is given to an artist from the list. In that case, the composer will have to comply or the songs gets disqualified.

A great number of familiar names is included in the TVR wishlist for 2010. Among them many Eurostars such as Nico (Romania 2008), Mihai Traistariu (Romania 2006), Luminita Anghel (Romania 2005), Nicola (Romania 2003), Marcel Pavel, Monica Anghel (Romania 2002), Holograf (Romania 1994 with Dan Bittman).

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
