UK wins OGAE Song Contest 2009

The United Kindom has won the OGAE Song Contest 2009 with its entry Viva la vida by Coldplay. This worldwide known band managed to gain 248 points from OGAE Clubs. The runner-up is Greece (Mando, Ston Egokero) with 211 points, and Italy placed third (Giusy Ferreri, Non ti scordar mai di me) with 152 points.

A total of 30 countries took part in this year's edition of OGAE Song Contest organised by the Croatian branch of OGAE Network – Eurofest Croatia. The organisers managed to put together an impressive show that included presentation of all the songs and artists as well as the making of the final voting video show!

A grand total of 30 clubs applied to the 2009 competition with some familiar names to Eurovision fans: Mando for Greece, Rebeka Dremelj for Slovenia, Anita Skorgan for Norway, Jelena Tomasevic for Serbia, Edyta Gorniak for Poland, Shiri Maimon for Israel, Petra Frey for Austria. Not to mention many artists who tried their luck in various local Eurovision selections.
