Last weekend Norwegian Television worked on series about Latvia, Riga and Latvians. The result of the hard work is 26 series which will be broadcasted in four programmes dedicated to Eurovision Song Contest 2003 on Norwegian Television (NRK) every Thursday as of April 24.

It was the Hege Westad, project manager, and Jostein Pedersen's, the host of the programme, first visit to Latvia. Hege Westand describes Latvia as a country that is much alike Norway – architecture, people and mentality are similar. To Pedersen's mind Latvians are more open and active than Norwegians.

The team interviewed Brigita Rozenbrika, the Executive Producer of Eurovision 2003, Marius Bratten, the Concert Producer of ESC 2003, the hosts Marie N and Renārs Kaupers as well as F.L.Y. They met Latvians who sang, danced, ate, went for a walk.

The guests seemed surprised about the motto Latvia – the land that sings, but after the choir show on last Saturday evening they were impressed by this idea.

So, if you happen to be in Norway on Thursdays between April 24 and May 24, switch on NRK Channel One to watch the programme Address – Riga to learn more about the participants of the contest and the host country.
