The Spanish public broadcasting corporation, RTVE, have just kicked off their preparations for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo. This year's selection method is called Tu paÃs te necesita (Your country needs you), and in a few days all those interested in taking part can start submitting their entries.
Once again, and like in previous years, the Internet will play an important role in the method that RTVE will follow in order to select the Spanish candidate for Oslo. The 2010 Spanish selection method is born under the name Tu país te necesita, Spanish for Your country needs you, the name of the 2009 British Eurovision selection.
RTVE will shortly launch a call for songs. Apart from the traditional and well-known Eurovision rules (age, number of performers, the October 1st rule…), RTVE has set that only national citizens and foreigners having resided for at least 2 years in Spain are eligible to participate.
Spain was represented at the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest by Soraya with the song La noche es para mí. The Spanish act finished second last in the final.
