He came second place in the Swedish Idol final behind winner Daniel Lindström, in 2004. He has released four successful albums to date and has had several hits on the Swedish charts. Now, he is ready to enter Melodifestivalen 2010 as the first wildcard.
The speculations had arisen in the Swedish tabloids during the last few days. Names like Jerry Williams, Martin Stenmark, Lena Philipsson and Sofia Jannok have all been mentioned in the newspapers as possible wildcards.
Today, SVT revealed the first wildcard of four. Former Idol participant Darin enters Melodifestivalen for the first time. He has been around the competition before, this year as interval act, performing Jan Johansen's Se på mig, and a couple of years ago he performed Lena Philipsson's Det gör ont at the show that celebrated 50 years of Melodifestivalen.
When he was 14 years old hee send in a song to Melodifestivalen, but i dident make the cut. "It is really fun to be in the competition, but i am already feeling butterflies in my belly",Darin says to Expressen.
"Darin have been on my wish list since 2005, when he knocked out the whole Swedish artist elite under the 50 years anniversary of Melodifestivalen, when he did his own version of Det gör ont", says Melodifestival producer Christer Björkman.
The song is called Out of my life and is written by Tony Nilsson and Henrik Jansson. Tony has been in Melodifestivalen in 2008 with Love in stereo and in 2009 with Disconnect me and The Queen. He has also been involved withnext year's songs Doctor Doctor and Too late to say I'm sorry, the latter together with Henrik Janson.
