The first artist to be announced for the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest comes from Bulgaria this year. Today, during the BNT morning show V nedelia s, it was announced that the Bulgarian hope for 2010 is Miroslav Kostandinov aka Miro, chosen internally by a panel of experts.

For next year, Bulgaria decided to leave the multi heat selection system of the past years and select their artist internally. A panel comprising 51 music experts voted for a number of candidates and Miro was the winner with 10 votes followed Poli Genova with 7 and Nora in third place with 3. Other artists in the running were Slavi Trifonov, Maria Ilieva, Lili Ivanova and Elitsa Todorova and Stoyan Yankulov, the 2007 Bulgarian representatives.

A national final will be organised now, where Miro will perform five songs, written especially for him in five different music genders ranging from ethno to rock. It has not been announced yet whether the winning song will be selected by televote, jury vote or a mixture of those.

Miro (Miroslav Kostandinov), born in 1976, is one of the leading artists in Bulgaria currently. A part of the duet Karizma together with Galia from 2002 to 2007 he made himself a name in the Bulgarian music scene and made his first attempt for the Eurovision Song Contest with Fool for you which ended up second after Elitsa and Stoyan’s Voda in 2007. After that, the duo broke up and Miro pursued a solo career very successfully achieving many smash hits, among them Gubia kontrol kogato, Avgust e septemvri and Zavinagi.

Thanks to Johnny Logan and Hold me now I fell in love with the Eurovision Song Contest, a love that's been going strong ever since with undiminished passion. My first memories date back to 1977 and the lyrics of Rock bottom, Dschinghis Khan and A ba ni bi are still engraved in my brain.

I joined esctoday.com in 2006 as a junior editor after being invited by Barry Viniker, I soon became Senior Editor and during the 2007 contest in Helsinki I was appointed Head of Communications. Today I hold the post of Head of Human Resources and I am proud to be working with the best editorial team in the world.
