Earlier this evening, this year’s Eurovision entrant for FYR Macedonia, Jana Burčeska unveiled her Eurovision song Dance alone.

The song was revealed during the television programme Stisni Play on FYR Macedonia’s MRT.

Dance alone was written and produced by Joacim Persson, Alex Omar, Florence A. and Bobi-Leon Milanov and together have produced a number of international hits for artists including Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue, Miley Cyrus, Alexandra Stan, Kelly Clarkson and Jamiroquai, having also worked with the winner of the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest Conchita Wurst.

Speaking of the choice of Dance alone for the competition, the Head of Delegation of FYR Macedonia Meri Popova said:

We have received more than 200 songs among which great number of impressive music works. Yet, “Dance Alone” was stuck on our mind from the very beginning, since we have started the open call in November 2016. We felt it was the right song for Jana, expressing her emotions and temperament in the right way.

The music video for Dance alone was produced by Bulgaria-based Russian director Sergey Zhelezko, who went on to speak about his experience in working alongside Burčeska:

It is very easy to work when the music is great and inspires you. Jana is amazing artist and we tried to make this video as animated as possible, so each time you see it, you will get the impression of watching a short movie.

Song presentation

During the show, everything about the song was also shown to the audience, such as the creative team behind Jana’s song, the directors for her video, her stylist and the choreographers for her stage performance in Kyiv.

Ambra Succi will be in charge of the choreography and artist direction of the Eurovision performance this coming May, who will work alongside Burčeska and the country’s Eurovision team in the lead up to the competition.

Succi has worked on 2 previous Eurovision performances, such as Loreen’s Eurovision choreography back in 2012 together with Bulgaria’s Poli Genova and her performance in last year’s contest.

The audience were also given an exclusive behind the scenes glimpse of the filming of Jana’s video clip, as well as all other Eurovision activities which she has partaken in over the last few months.

Jana Burčeska was announced as the participant for FYR Macedonia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 on the 21 November 2016. She will compete in the first half of the second semi-final on Thursday 11 May.
