A new compilation CD with 19 of Mabel's hits has been released by Universal Danmark, under the title “Det sidste boom” / The last boom… which refers to the 1978 Danish entry Boom Boom. The last track is a 2009 remix of the song, by R. Dif & M. Parsberg.

Mike Tramp, Otto Kulmbak, Peter Nielsen and Christian Have had a lot of success in their home country with their recordings. Their first LP, Another fine mess, was also distributed in Japan. The band gained fame outside Denmark, especially in Spain. In 1978, they easily won the Danish national selection, 9 points ahead of… the Olsen Brothers, who sang San Francisco.

After 4 LP's, Mabel split up and leader Mike Tramp formed White Lion until 1992, then he joined another rock band, Freak Of Nature. An illustrated discography of Mabel can be found here. Last year, in Stenløse, the group re-united for a day, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Boom Boom. This is how the idea of a new CD came, the record company explained.

Here's a live version recording made in Stenløse.

After 11 years of absence, Denmark re-entered the Eurovision Song Contest in 1978 with Mabel singing Boom Boom. The song received 13 points (none from any Nordic countries) and placed 16th.
