The Swiss broadcaster SRF has asked to be pre-allocated to Semifinal 2 of Eurovision 2017 without draw. The request was accepted by the EBU and the Reference Group of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Right before the annual allocation draw of the Eurovision Song Contest, where the participating countries are divided into semifinals, the national broadcasters has an opportunity to ask to be allocated to a specific semifinal due to various reasons, as happened with Israel when the other semifinal fell on a national memorial day or with nordic countries when a neighbouring country hosted the contest.

The Swiss broadcaster SRF asked to participate in Semifinal 2 on 11 May, as the first semifinal, on 9 May, falls on a night with an UEFA Champions League match and a match of the Swiss national team in the Ice Hockey World Championships. The request was accepted. However, a draw will still determine if Switzerland will participate in the first or the second half of the second semifinal.

The Swiss entry will be chosen on 5 February via Die Entscheidungsshow, with six songs participating.
