Irish radio and tv personality, Derek Mooney, is to be the spokesperson for Ireland this year during the voting tally at the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2009.
Derek Mooney had presented almost all types of tv and radio show genres from televised gameshows through to wildlife shows on radio.
Currently he presents 'Mooney' on RTÉ Radio 1, the daily popular magazine show on weekday afternoons. His radio show this year showcased the first broadcast of the six entries of this year's Irish national final for the Eurovision Song Contest.
Derek is no stranger as spokesperson for Ireland as he read the votes at the Eurovision Song Contest 2000. By announcing this year's votes for Ireland he joins in the footsteps ofrecent spokespersons; Johnny Logan in 2004, Dana in 2005, Eimear Quinn in 2006, and Linda Martin in 2007.
Ireland in represented by Sinéad Mulvey & Black Daisy singing 'Et Cetera' and will perform 2nd in the second semi final on Thursday, May 14th.
