Eurovision 2017: Klitschko meets ESC Organizing Committee: update on preparations

The Mayor of Kyiv ,Mr. Vitaly Klitschko held a meeting with officials from Kyiv City State Administration and the 2017 Eurovision Organizing Committee in order to discuss the ongoing ESC 2017 preparations. He revealed more details regarding the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest organization and gave an update regarding the matter.

The City of Kyiv is working very hard  a and round the clock in order to organize a magnificent Eurovision along with NTU, the national Ukrainian broadcaster when 42 delegations will land in the Ukrainian capital next May, bringing with them thousands of Eurovision fans, journalists and visitors.

Kyiv has fulfilled and met with all its obligations regarding the preparations for hosting the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest. The Mayor of Kyiv Mr.Vitali Klitschko shed more light on the matter during a special meeting which was held in Kyiv with the 2017 ESC Organizing Commitee.

Mr. Klitschko says:

We have not much time left for the song contest, so we have to work as efficiently as possible, in order to hold the contest at the highest level.  We have accomplished and fulfilled all the commitments meeting the requirements of a host city. But we are also required to assist and help with the Eurovision preparations in the best possible way, as we estimate that around 20,0000 visitors from all over Europe will come to our city next May and we have to showcase and present our capital in the best possible way.

Mr. Klitschko went on to say that the City of Kyiv allocated 50 million from the city budget in order to prepare for the competition.

Mr. Klitschko commented:

The budget for next year provides for 150 million on preparation for Eurovision-2017.

During the meeting the representatives of the organizing committee also discussed the following issues: the safety of  the guests during the Eurovision Song Contest, the placement and advertisement of promotional material of the 2017 ESC host city Kyiv and and adopted a formal decision on the International Exhibition Centre (ESC venue) at Brovary Avenue as the official venue for the competition.

The 2017 Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to be held on 9, 11 and 13 at the IEC in Kyiv, Ukraine.
