The Danish broadcaster DR has announced that Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2017, the Danish national selection for Eurovision 2017, will take place in the Jyske Bank Boxen Arena in Herning on 25 February 2017.

DR turns Melodi Grand Prix to an All Denmark’s Show by changing the host city every year, having it hosted in six different cities since 2000. ”Boxen in Herning is one of the best places in Denmark for TV productions, so we have the ideal constructions to work with”, explains DR’s entertainment manager Jan Lagermand Lundme about the decision of Herning as this year’s host city.

Herding will turn into a DMGP city during the preparations for the national selection with many DMGP-related activities for schools, elderly cares and institutions, and collaborations with museums, restaurants and other points of interest to make sure that everyone celebrates the big event.

Denmark will try to qualify to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest in 2017 after two years of failure. There is a hope that Herning, which hosted DMGP 2013, where Emmelie de Forest won – and then went on to win the Eurovision Song Contest – will bring back the luck to the nordic country.
