Denis Čabrić, the bassist of the Bosnian band Regina, who represented Bosnia & Herzegovina in Eurovision Song Contest 2009, has passed away at the age of 49.

Denis (most right at the picture) was born in Sarajevo in 1967 where he spent most of his life. He was among the founders of Regina along with Bojan Miličević and Aleksandr Čović. He was working with Regina occasionally since 1991, and joined as a permanent member in 2006.

Apart from being a member of Regina, Denis also composed music for documentaries and children’s TV shows as well for the 2006 comedy film Nebo iznad krajolika (The sky above the landscape), which tells the story about a Frenchwoman in Bosnia & Herzegovina who gets lost in the country’s mountains and must find the way back to Sarajevo.

In 2009, together with Regina, Denis ended up 9th in the Eurovision Song Contest, representing Bosnia & Herzegovina with the song Bistra voda.

Denis passed away at the age of 49 from a heart attack, during summer holidays with his family at the Croatian coast.

”I can not describe how it is to lose my best friend… I have no words.”, said the band’s singer, Davor Ebner.
