An article that appears on today's Turkish daily Hürriyet, one of Turkey's most selling newspapers, state that OGAE Turkey fans support the fact that Sertab Erener will sing this year's Turkish entry entirely in English at the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest in Riga, Latvia.
Lately and quite frequently, Turkish newspapers have been publishing news regarding Sertab Erener and her entry for the Eurovision Song Contest “Every Way That I Can.” This latest trend started a discussion over whether the language, in which the entry will be sung at the Eurovision Song Contest Final, should be in English or Turkish. The same debate also took place on certain Turkish radio stations' broadcasts. Since the contest has not been so popular among the Turkish public during the recent years, some people's harsh reactions to the fact that the entry will be sung entirely in English also showed that they do not have enough knowledge about the Eurovision Song Contest's recent history and its new format.
This situation prompted OGAE Turkey to establish contact with almost all the news providers within the country and provide them with information regarding the new rules and the newly evolved format of the contest. As a result of the collective effort shown by OGAE Turkey's members, today, for the first time in Turkish Eurovision history, OGAE Turkey also succeeded to have its name heard to the entire Turkish public on a nationally acclaimed newspaper.
In addition, during the past week TRT confirmed on its national news hour that Sertab Erener will perfom the entry titled “Every Way That I Can” at the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest. The fact that the entry will be revealed this coming Saturday on “Sayısal Gece” program has also been confirmed by the program's director according to Turkish daily Tercüman. “Sayısal Gece” appears on TRT 1 and TRT INT every Saturday at 19:30 GMT.
